Inspiration across generations
ries+kramer® is a family-run company, founded by the brothers Rick and Marc Meinberg together with family friend Jannik Ries. All three share a long-standing, individual professional engagement with space, furniture, materials and craftsmanship. Their differing perspectives — from business strategy and web development, architecture and craft, through to product and industrial design — form the foundation of the company.
The name ries+kramer® is a tribute to the grandfathers of the Meinberg (Kramer) and Ries families. As a visual artist and as a mechanical engineer, they shaped their families in different ways in technology, craft and culture. Both shared a passion for their work that lasted into old age and became an important inspiration for the founders.

Our origin
The starting point for the collaboration between the three founders was a spontaneous project in their shared Frankfurt studio. Behind it stood the shared vision of transferring the principles of refinement and bespoke into the world of furniture. The aim was to combine exceptional surfaces with one of the most formative furniture systems in design history and to understand USM Haller as the basis for a new form of individual luxury.
To this end, processes were systematically tested and prototypes developed. The electroplated chrome finishing of a shelf ultimately produced the material quality that would determine the further path of ries+kramer. It generated significant attention within the design and interior scene for the first time and laid the foundation for the company's further development. In parallel, a close professional exchange with USM emerged that continues to this day.
